How to Build the Most Popular Personal Finance Blog in the Universe

This article is mostly for my fellow bloggers (non-bloggers should read it too so that my bounce rate doesn’t spike) who are desperately trying to break through the noise and become cultural icons. Not everyone can spend only two years constantly writing and amass a following of over dozens of people. I’ve done just that. Today, I’ll share my secrets.

How to Lose Every Argument and Come Out a Winner

Why do we argue? This isn’t a rhetorical question or a call for people to stop with all the fighting. I just want people to think about what they’re trying to accomplish. Arguing can be incredibly beneficial, we’ve just been doing it wrong.

The Great Mask Debate- Social Norms and the Use of Force

As with everything lately the great mask debate has become political. People are lining up on both sides of the aisle to ask two similar but completely different questions: Should you wear a mask in public? AND Should you be forced to wear a mask in public? Let’s discuss.

Caitlyn Jenner and the Importance of Open Dialogue

Today I want to talk about a trend that’s been troubling me. We seem to be lacking nuance lately. An insufficient amount of nuance is leading to a lack of open dialogue. Instead of engaging, it’s often easier to simply remove from our lives those we disagree with. Whether we’re discussing police brutality, systematic racism, or Caitlyn Jenner, I think it’s important to foster a culture of open dialogue. 19 Pretty Good Coronavirus Safety Tips for Humans

I realize many people are terrified of the days to come. I’m very concerned about what’s coming next and I’m afraid many of us will be deeply affected by this virus. This post isn’t meant to downplay the seriousness of the Coronavirus. The cartoons are sarcastic and meant for humor. If you’re one of those people who says things like, “Too soon” then this post probably isn’t for you. Some of us deal with stressful situations through humor. This is for those people. Enjoy.

People are worried about the Coronavirus. I’ve been there. Luckily, I’ve been doing some long days of research in order to bring you the best tips and practices for getting through this Biblical plague of judgment.

I did a Twitter poll to find out if people thought a light-hearted Coronavirus post was inappropriate. Turns out, a lot of you do.

Coronavirus

But, majority rules. Welcome to America.

Side Note: These cartoons are funny and non-offensive. So, just remember that.  Continue reading “19 Pretty Good Coronavirus Safety Tips for Humans”

How to Participate in the American Election Without Being a Bad Guy

This is the version where I replace inappropriate words so my mom can read it without thinking I’m a bad guy. Here’s the regular post.

I recently came to a revelation: We should be nice to each other this election season. Boom. I know. Let me explain how I got here.

So things are starting to heat up politically. There have been a lot of online discussions about which candidate is best. They mostly leave everyone feeling angry and unchanged. Part of the reason we leave angry is the other side rarely seems to even hear our reasons for why we see things the way we do.

A lot of people I know are planning to vote for Donald Trump. I think he’s an obvious cartoon Disney villain. But, I like a lot of the people who still feel compelled to vote for him, so I decided to really try and understand their side of things.

Full disclosure: I’m a left-leaning liberal, at least at this stage of life. I bring my own confirmation bias into this election cycle but I genuinely wanted to see what it would take to convince myself to vote for Donald Trump. It was a fun time. How to Participate in the American Election Without Being a Complete Dick

I recently came to a revelation: We should be nice to each other this election season. Boom. I know. Let me explain how I got here.

[I made a clean version of this post. You can read it instead if you’d rather.]

They mostly leave everyone feeling angry and unchanged. Part of the reason we leave angry is the other side rarely seems to even hear our reasons for why we see things the way we do.

January- The Worst Month We’ve Had All Year

Happy February. I think we can all agree January was a complete shitshow from day one. I’m glad it’s over. In late December I decided that it would be super fun to remain alcohol-free for the entire month of January because I make poor decisions. Being completely sober is overrated and so was January. I have a lot of emotions heading into February. Let’s pretend January never happened. Happy February 1st, the unofficial New Year! Continue reading “January- The Worst Month We’ve Had All Year”
